The most popular private jets to charter in Germany
Private charter is incredibly popular in Germany – according to a 2019 report, the country is home to almost 18% of Europe’s private jets, plus it was the continent’s second-biggest user of private aviation in 2021 behind France. Here’s our round-up of Germany’s most popular private jets to charter.
Cessna Citation Mustang
Connecting Germany with most of Europe, the Cessna Citation Mustang is a cost-effective aircraft for short-haul charter solutions. Often referred to as an ‘air taxi’ due to its four-seat configuration that resembles a London black cab, it has plenty of storage space for luggage, golf clubs and skis.

Cessna Citation CJ1
The Citation CJ1 is amongst the most successful private jet families in the light jet class. The aircraft typically flies five passengers and their luggage from Germany to other major European hubs like London and Milan. Thanks to its low operational costs and excellent fuel-efficiency, the CJ1 has remained a popular charter option since its inception in 2000.

Cessna Citation CJ2
Similarly to the CJ1, the CJ2 is a great option for those seeking a cost-effective short-haul charter solution. Able to fly six passengers for almost three hours, the CJ2 and upgraded CJ2+ are ideal for short trips like Paris to Frankfurt or Munich to San Sebastián.
The aircraft’s roomy interior typically comes with a fully-stocked refreshment centre and an enclosed lavatory at the back, while other amenities may include power outlets, a passenger flight phone and a hot coffee station. Unlike other light jets, the CJ2 also offers ample baggage storage, with enough space for six suitcases in the external hold.
Cessna Citation XLS
The Cessna Citation XLS and XLS+ are among the world’s best-selling midsize business jets, thanks to their winning combination of cabin comfort, size and performance.
While the XLS doesn’t quite measure up to its successor’s overall performance, its largest-in-class cabin can comfortably seat up to eight passengers on fully-reclining, widest-in-class padded leather seats. Foldaway tables, sliding headrests and built-in drinks holders make the cabin ideal for both business and leisure travel. Both the XLS and XLS+ also offer sizable baggage holds with space for up to eight suitcases or skis and golf clubs.

Embraer Phenom 300
Breaking up Cessna’s dominance in the German private charter market is the award-winning Embraer Phenom 300, which boasts one of the most spacious cabin interiors and baggage holds of any light jet or super light jet on the market.
The aircraft can fly for up to four hours, completing flights like Munich to Reykjavik or Istanbul. It was the most delivered twinjet of 2021 according to numbers released by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association; and in February 2022 it became the world’s bestselling light jet for the 10th consecutive year.
