Belmond Hotel Splendido Portofino
Housed in a 16th-century Benedictine monastery which nestles on a verdant hillside overlooking picture-perfect Portofino Harbour, Belmond Hotel Splendido is one of Italy’s most celebrated hotels.
La Terrazza at Belmond Hotel Splendido serves authentic Italian cuisine in a spectacular setting overlooking the bay. Guests can dine either on the stunning open-air terrace or inside, where hand-painted walls and hardwood floors create a more formal ambience. The Poolside Restaurant offers made-to-order pizzas and an incredible buffet of regional specialities, while there’s also a stylish cocktail bar with live piano music. Down at Belmond Hotel Splendido Mare, sophisticated Chuflay serves incredible fresh seafood – glamorous former patrons include James Cameron and Rod Stewart – and the adjacent Chuflay Bar offers harbour-side aperitifs and snacks.
A complimentary shuttle runs between the two properties, allowing guests to fully enjoy all of the facilities. Belmond Hotel Splendido has a heated saltwater pool with spectacular sea views, relaxing wellness centre, fitness centre and hillside all-weather tennis court. Family-friendly amenities include a fun-packed kids’ club and children’s spa treatments and restaurant menus. For an extra-special experience, guests can explore the Gulf of Tigullio aboard the hotel’s luxurious private motorboat or take a gourmet tasting tour of the sprawling grounds, sampling homemade olive oil and enjoying a delicious picnic of locally-grown produce.
The hotel opens seasonally from April to November. Situated in Belmond Hotel Splendido, the dramatically located Exclusive Suites are the hotel’s largest accommodation, featuring glorious balconies and terraces overlooking scenic Portofino Cove and the Gulf of Tigullio. Decorated in muted Mediterranean tones, each air-conditioned suite boasts a luxurious king-size bed, separate living area with plush sofa and a large marble bathroom with double vanity basins and separate bath and shower.
