Arranging a bespoke tour to the Southern Lights
A couple in Singapore needed help planning a self-drive tour of New Zealand with their three children in search of the Southern Lights. Having booked their own business-class flights, we were tasked with creating a bespoke on-the-ground itinerary packed with memorable experiences. With just a month’s notice, we sprung into action to arrange transport, accommodation, meals and activities in five destinations.

The family wanted the space and flexibility of staying in luxury holiday homes instead of hotel rooms. We sourced a range of properties with private chefs, including a lakeside villa, a rustic farmhouse and a modern apartment, providing details of the children's favourite foods in advance to ensure meals were prepared to their liking.
The trip was taking place during New Zealand’s low season, when many attractions are closed and the weather can be unreliable. We booked several Southern Lights excursions to maximise the likelihood of spotting the natural wonder, as well as a helicopter mountain picnic, nature cruise, guided stargazing excursion and bungee jumping.
Our travel experts carefully planned every day of the trip to maximise the family’s time in each destination and thought of every detail to ensure the trip ran smoothly, from making restaurant bookings to breaking up long drives with activity packs and pit-stops.
